LET ME WALK YOU THROUGH THE PEDESTRIAN
"The Pedestrian", by Ray Bradbury is about a man named Mr Leonard Mead who goes for a walk in the year 2053 and is targeted for being so out place just by walking and so he is arrested. I believe that Ray Bradbury wrote ,"The Pedestrian," to write down his experience of being different and being targeted and it was his way of coping with it. His experience of getting arrested just for being on a walk contributed to tone, character, and plot.
Bradbury used tone to show that feeling of being different. When Leonard Mead is out walking we notice that he is the only one out there not even a single car everyone else is inside their homes. Leonard Mead was walking and this was such a strange site that the police came and stopped him and after questioning him arrested him, he was punished for being out of place.
Bradbury uses characters to convey his feeling of being alone . In the story the main character Mr Leonard Mead is different as in he still goes outside and enjoyed nature while everybody else is indoors watching t.v. or not paying attention to their surroundings . He is not like everybody else and he is feeling lonely because of it in the sense that he is the only one out there enjoying nature, but we also learn when the police asks him if he was married and he said no so additional he is both physically and emotionally alone.
Ray Bradbury," The Pedestrian," uses the plot to convey his feelings with visualization. From the beginning when he describes the empty streets that Leonard Mead walks through in the evening it is peaceful and a bit lonely. Leonard Mead walks out on the streets daily and he enjoyed this until one day he gets stopped by the police and is questioned on what he is doing and is made to feel different and confused, he later gets arrested and token away. The plot helps the reader feel what the author was feeling and as the story progresses you feel what he felt in those moments.
In conclusion Ray Bradbury's "The Pedestrian" is a story about a man who is feeling lonely and disconnected with society which is shown through the story's tone, characters, and plot. The tone shows the feeling of being different, the characters show the feeling of being alone and the plot shows his descent into these feelings . These are all an analogy for what the author was feeling when this happen to him.
